Tutor feedback for The live shows

First Live Show

Along with your co-presenter, you offered a laid-back style. The mood of the show was conversational which seemed to suit your style. Don’t forget that the conventual elements need to be utilised such a forward progression and branding. I think you needed to give more of this through the programme. You will know I was not impressed by the embarrassing stories and this shouldn’t have gone on. There is a way in which this process is for practice and assessment but the fact it’s a broadcast product means that there needs to be an acceptance that what the broadcaster says is not acceptable is not acceptable. Argue in your blog, essay and reflection but not in the studio.

Newlove Your feedback is remarkably similar to that of the other presenter in that you both did the same thing in the same way; the good points are the same and it issues the same. Therefore, you could perhaps sit down together and discuss the performance alongside the feedback below. Firm up the writing as well. It’s all right having a conversational and informal style but the audience does need some core information about the audio which is being played out and this is why we do formal cues to go with the informal interaction.

Second Live Show

In this feedback I am specifically looking at the way in which your section of the programme was managed and presented. I am interested in how the pre-recorded material was framed by the script and cues as well as the way you explained the purpose of the show to the audience.

It’s all to do with the presenting a professional and coherent section which while stand-alone fits in with the rest of the run.

You seemed to be organised prior to the show although the running order was not the most comprehensive! Come on this is a basic issue make sure the audio matches the running order and its properly formatted. This caused issues with the technical team and I can see why. A few scribbled notes do not step up to the mark.

You were given some specific instructions at the start since there was a change in the programme schedule and you followed these. Well done.

This gave a solid informed start to the show with you telling us what the show was going to be about. You had a live interview set up and briefed her which all tells me it’s organised. It led to a good interview with the guest offering excellent questions and interaction but try not to keep saying “obviously”. As presenters don’t just run out of questions…end the interview with something positive. In other words, at the end you seemed vague and unsure. A simple “Thank you for joining us in the studio” would have presented a more professional front.

There were some issues in the control room which were not you are doing. You smoothed through this fraught time.

You ended with Neil Jackson, Who the hell is Neil Jackson! A proper cue, please!
